Job Summary/Basic Function
Student Desk Managers work to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that helps to enhance student and community development. ResLife IT Student Desk Managers support the Residential Life staff by providing troubleshooting and instructional support on issues/topics related to departmental IT needs. Specifically, the Student Desk Manager is expected to role model leadership, integrity, and must possess a passion for working with undergraduate students in a residence hall setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing troubleshooting and support for front desk computers, their browsers, the network connection, their security, and the software on them.
  • Providing troubleshooting and support for the computers of those who supervise various components of the desk operations in the halls, their browsers, the network connection, their security, and the software on them.
  • Providing support for desk operations in terms of assisting with initial card access troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Placing TDX tickets for additional support as necessary from OIT and following up on those tickets to ensure timely resolution of Incidents which affect desk operations.
  • Assisting with the deployment and inventorying of new hardware and software to the front desk computers and to the computers of those who supervise the various components of front desk operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
