Container Platforms Organization (CPO) provides Schwab Technology Services (STS) with reliable, current, and preferred Container Platform offerings. The team delivers and owns products and capabilities that make the onboarding and operation of applications on those offerings consistent and simple. We strive for excellent customer service by providing tenants of our platforms and consumers of our products with valuable services and automation, 24/7 support, issue resolution, platform/product debugging and fine tuning, and advocacy through widely impacting projects.
Within Container Platforms Organization the Container Platform Capabilities (CPC) provides Schwab application developers and engineers with enabling technologies, services, tools, middleware, and guidance to streamline application development on our platforms. We strive for excellence by levering best-in-class container and automation capabilities to foster integrated ecosystems for our customers. Our approach is to offer "Everything as a Service" so developers can quickly innovate, iterate, and operate in a manner consistent to modern Public Cloud providers.
What you are good at
Effectively driving technical and procedural change initiatives will be critical to success in this role. You will be involved in all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from designing and building pipelines and supporting private cloud environments to working on various POCs. You will gain a deep understanding of the inner workings of various application platforms to identify needed create "paved roads" to streamline delivery pipelines. Your role will require a wealth of knowledge and field-proven experience to deliver on the success of the initiatives.
What you'll do
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of "Everything as a Service" applications
  • Lead development efforts of items with limited complexity with oversight from lead
  • Build automated tests and enable continuous delivery of the container products and capabilities
  • Participate in peer code reviews, receiving & incorporating feedback from team members, as well as providing feedback to others
  • Participate in requirements analysis with team members
  • Design and document software solutions requiring general domain knowledge and developing business expertise
  • Participate in agile ceremonies with a software development team, including quarterly Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions

What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of DevOps experience in a Linux environment
  • 1-2 years of professional development experience in Java, .NET, or other object-oriented programming languages such as Python or C++
  • 1-2 years of Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or PCF
  • Current experience with Schwab systems and processes
  • Solid understanding of Cloud architectures and best practices
  • Solid knowledge of networking concepts such as routing, subnetting, NATing etc
  • Solid Linux sysadmin skills
  • Solid in scripting languages including Bash and Python
  • Familiarity with containerization using cloud native technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience using Git-based source control and CI/CD tools (GitHub, Jenkins, Bamboo, Harness, or similar)
  • Experience with IaC, preferably Terraform
  • Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Salt
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Must have a passion for problem-solving, the ability to learn new technologies quickly, and be able to interact with all levels of technical and business teams
  • Effective time management, must be able to prioritize and multi-task effectively
  • Experience working on an Agile Scrum development team
