Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Development Intern to join our team at a growing genomics company. In this role you will work alongside experienced engineers to build, test, and document software while learning how we develop and ship products. A genuine interest in programming, a willingness to learn, and strong problem-solving instincts will set you up for success. You will gain hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Feature Development & Technical Support
    • Assists with the development of software features under the guidance of senior engineers.
    • Writes and runs tests, and helps reproduce, diagnose, and fix bugs.
    • Helps with small data tasks and simple script
  • DevOps & Workflow Integration
    • Uses version control (Git) and strictly follows branch and pull-request conventions.
    • Learns the team's build and continuous integration (CI/CD) process and tooling.
  • Collaboration, Documentation & Security
    • Participates in code reviews and team standups to learn the team's workflow.
    • Writes and updates technical documentation.
    • Keeps information confidential and follows company security basics.

Position Requirements
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Foundational programming skills in at least one language (for example Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript).
    • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
    • Exposure to a web framework or REST APIs.
    • Basic understanding of version control (Git).
