Our Operations & Maintenance team serves more than 700 customers, maintaining a 99% renewal rate each year. Based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Solect is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pattern Energy Group.


Solect is currently seeking a full time Apprentice Electrician physically located in our headquarters in Hopkinton, MA. This role is an integral member of the service and maintenance team, which is responsible for maintaining and inspecting commercial/industrial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The candidate must demonstrate strong customer communication skills, be self-driven and independent with a passion for the solar industry. Must be able to manage a large number volume of projects while demonstrating excellent quality work. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems through activities such as constructing controllers and panels, using power drills, saws, and punches, as well as measuring, cutting, and bending wire and conduit using measuring instruments and hand tools. 
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, inverters, panels and circuits. Tracing out short circuits in wiring, using a test meter. Working consistently in a safe and effective manner.
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections, broken insulation, or other issues. Perform related maintenance such as tightening connections using hand tools. Accurately and effectively communicate, and document findings and requirements.
  • Maintaining tools, vehicles, and equipment. Keeping parts and supplies in order.
  • Learning and using software to aid in project management and documentation.
  • Apprentice to be enrolled in or able to enroll in an accredited apprentice training course to achieve their required hours to receive their Journeyman’s Electrical License

Desired Skills & Experience Essential Requirements:
  •  High School diploma or equivalent,
  • Valid driver's license,
  • Positive driving record,
  • Attainment of and or working towards the attainment of a Journeyman electrical license.
Preferred Requirements:
  •  Knowledge and understanding of Solar PV Basics, Fundamentals, and Troubleshooting  OSHA10 Certification
  •  NABCEP Certification is a BIG plus
  • Willingness and excitement to learn.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $50,000 - $62,000 USD. This range is an estimate, and base pay may vary above or below these amounts based on several factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees at all levels.
