Position Summary
The Software Developer creates software applications by analyzing and translating non-technical business requirements into dynamic, functional software applications. In addition to the design and maintenance of applications, the Software Developer performs ongoing assessment to ensure applications are visually effective, accessible, secure, and easy to use. This role participates in Agile development teams and leverages modern software engineering practices, including source control, AI-assisted development tools, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities
  • Build, troubleshoot, enhance, and maintain software applications and services.
  • Develop web applications and business solutions using Microsoft .NET technologies.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and team members to gather and refine application requirements.
  • Use GitHub for source control, code reviews, branch management, versioning, and team collaboration.
  • Apply software development best practices to maintain and improve platforms and applications.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools and Generative AI technologies to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and development efficiency while adhering to organizational standards and security requirements.
  • Assist in the development and integration of AI-enabled features, automation solutions, APIs, and intelligent workflows where appropriate.
  • Document code, create technical specifications, and maintain application documentation.
  • Perform quality assurance testing of upgrades, patches, enhancements, and new releases.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and support deployment activities.
  • Continually learn emerging technologies, methodologies, techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints with dynamic requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience
  • Four-year college degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
  • 2-5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience developing applications using Microsoft .NET technologies.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments preferred.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools, Generative AI platforms, or intelligent automation technologies is preferred.

Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of software design principles, application architecture, and development best practices.
  • Experience with commonly used programming design concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with modern IDEs; Microsoft Visual Studio experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and database development concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET programming including C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET, Web APIs, or related technologies.
  • Experience with React JS
  • Experience using GitHub or similar source control platforms for version control and collaboration.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies and Scrum practices.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, application integration, and modern web development concepts.
  • Basic understanding of AI/Generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, AI-assisted coding tools, and responsible AI practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
