As one of the newest Chenega companies, Chenega Defense & Aerospace Solutions (CDAS) was developed with the purpose of providing expert Engineering and Technical Support Services to federal customers.
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to take a key role in the development, maintenance, and deployment of critical NGA business applications. As a member of our small, collaborative team, you will be responsible for interfacing directly with customers and government leads to gather and define technical requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive, client-facing engineer who excels at translating user needs into robust software solutions and thrives in a high-ownership, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop the core application using Java, Spring Boot, and JPA.
  • Build a modern, responsive front-end with React, TypeScript, and MUI.
  • Design, build, and secure RESTful APIs for consumption by other critical systems.
  • Work directly with customers to gather and refine requirements, often from high-level verbal communication.
  • Operate within an Agile Scrum framework, participating in sprints, sprint reviews, and managing work through Jira.
  • Design and manage the application's PostgreSQL database on AWS RDS.
  • Deploy, automate, and manage the AWS cloud-based system (C2S) to ensure availability, performance, and security, utilizing tools like GitLab CI/CD and Docker.
  • Design, create, and document cloud architecture diagrams and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS in a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience developing applications with Java (preferably Spring Boot).
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Experience developing software in an AWS or C2S cloud environment.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong experience with SQL (specifically PostgreSQL) and building RESTful APIs / Web Services.
  • Proficiency with development and CI/CD tools, including Git, GitLab CI/CD, and Docker.
  • Strong working experience across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and learn new systems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the following is a significant plus: NoSQL (DynamoDB), code analysis tools (SonarQube), or mapping libraries (Leaflet).
