Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision. Interns will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects within one of Garmin's software development teams, including Embedded Software, DevOps, Mobile and Web.
Essential Functions
  • Learn to develop software in C, C++, or other selected languages for Garmin communication and navigation products in accordance with Garmin's software development methodology with guidance
  • Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
  • Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
  • Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
  • Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must possess relevant experience and/or training in a high-level language such as C, C++, C# or Java relevant to Garmin's business needs
  • Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin's business needs

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Previous experience working in a team environment
