Job description

What to Expect Tesla is looking for a highly skilled and motivated software royalty and licensing Supply Chain Manager (SCM) to support ourcomponentsuppliers, software engineeringteamand hardware SCMs. This role encompasses work on components that are used across all Tesla products, including vehicles, energy, AI, robotics and more. The role will report to the Supply Chain Group Manager and be an active resource to help Tesla engineering unlock key features needed to advance Tesla's product roadmap.
What You'll Do
  • Own softwareroyalty andlicensingsourcingforhardware componentswith integrated circuit suppliers, most notably in the embeddedand wireless / wired connectivity protocolcommodities
  • Partner with software engineering teams toidentifyfeature / license needs andput in placeappropriate contractswith hardwarecomponentsuppliers to safeguard development of new software features
  • Lead the negotiations on critical software and licensing contracts, including but not limited to multi-party NDAs, license and royalty agreements, statements of work for software development and other relevant software and licensing agreements
  • Own the software considerations in hardware commodity strategies andmergewith thecomponentSupply Chain Managers (SCMs) to put forth a commodity strategy that takes into consideration software requirements
  • Document new feature requestsand timelinein a Statement of Work(SOW)
  • Partner with cross functional teams todefine IP / royalty strategy for hardware components,determinetheappropriate royaltyrates for Tesla's applicationneedand negotiate terms tooptimizecosts and IP access
  • Collaborate with legal, finance and engineering teams to mitigate risks related to IP infringement,indemnificationor supply disruptions in the procurement of hardware components to ensure supply continuity
  • Manage hardware related royalty costs, including forecasting royalty spend,identifyingcost-saving opportunities, and regular PO issuance / invoicing to ensure compliance
  • Communicate key supply, cost, and/orlicensingissues with management teams. Develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, software contract negotiations, or commodity management
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in commodities that have hardware with embedded software and navigating the software requirements and contracts, such as Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, cellular,WiFi, Bluetooth, UWB...etc)
  • Proficient knowledge of technical requirements & design of the product and be able to influence cross functional partners with detailed analysis that supports optimized pricing and product sourcing decisions
  • Excellent negotiator
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering and / or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability

Expected Compensation $104,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
