Job description

Company Overview
Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.
We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources - including solar, gas, and batteries - at a massive scale.
And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn't meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today's infrastructure equipment can't match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.
We've built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that's now ready for commercial deployment.
Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow's most demanding energy consumers.
Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.
Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.
With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.
Join us in building the power foundation of the future!
Role Summary
As a Senior NPI Technical Program Manager, you will lead the transition of innovative Solid State Transformer systems from design into scalable manufacturing. You'll drive build readiness, validate MBOMs and factory systems, and partner across engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations to ensure smooth, high-quality product launches. This role blends hands-on technical problem solving with cross-functional leadership. You will refine NPI processes, reduce costs, manage risks, and ensure scalability while shaping products that accelerate electrification in critical industries.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end NPI process, defining and driving the master build schedule (EVT, DVT, PVT, and ramp) with clear entry/exit criteria and alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Support engineering and manufacturing development activities by contributing technical expertise to NPI builds and product readiness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams - engineering, product development, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and operations - to achieve program milestones.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to finalize and confirm MBOM accuracy, ensuring alignment between design, configuration, and factory readiness.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing teams to test and verify factory systems (ERP, MRP, MES) prior to production launch.
  • Establish and track key NPI metrics (yield, cycle time, first-pass success, defect rates) to measure readiness and drive improvements.
  • Provide clear, consistent communication of build status, risks, and technical updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to develop and validate test strategies, reliability plans, and qualification activities, ensuring compliance with internal standards, regulatory bodies, and customer certifications.
  • Support change management by coordinating ECOs, configuration control, and ensuring synchronization between design and production systems.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM/DFA) by creating feedback loops between engineering and production teams.
  • Partner with global operations and suppliers to ensure capacity, material readiness, and logistics alignment for high-volume ramp.
  • Ensure material availability for all build cycles by coordinating with supply chain teams, monitoring quality, and escalating risks.
  • Contribute to cost reduction and process improvement initiatives by identifying yield improvement opportunities and collaborating on cost optimization strategies.
  • Identify and escalate program risks with mitigation plans, while leading cross-functional risk reviews and scenario planning.
  • Manage and resolve excess and obsolete (E&O) material issues during early product phases.
  • Lead post-mortem reviews and lessons learned after each build or launch, embedding improvements into Amperesand's NPI framework.
  • Mentor junior engineers and program managers in NPI best practices to foster a culture of execution excellence.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering roles (manufacturing, test, product development, or NPI) with program execution experience in complex product environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to drive successful product builds and resolve technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document and present technical findings, build status, and risk assessments.
  • Experience working with electrical systems, power electronics, or similar hardware products in production settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, adapt to evolving program requirements, and manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with product qualification and reliability testing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
