Job description

We are sharing a specialised full-time consulting opportunity for experienced full-stack software engineers with hands-on production experience building and shipping modern applications across backend, frontend, database, and cloud environments.

This role supports an advanced generative AI initiative focused on building, integrating, and stress-testing real software using frontier AI models. Selected engineers will develop production-quality applications and internal tools, integrate pre-release model APIs, investigate model and integration failures, and contribute working code quickly across evolving technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack Software Development

  • Build and ship full-stack applications, backend services, APIs, and internal engineering tools
  • Develop production software using Python, Java, Rust, C#, C++, TypeScript, or related technologies
  • Work across backend services, frontend applications, databases, and cloud environments
  • Develop maintainable, production-quality software for realistic application workflows
  • Contribute to architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment

AI Model & API Integration

  • Integrate pre-release AI model APIs into working software
  • Build supporting tool interfaces, application scaffolding, and evaluation harnesses
  • Develop telemetry and instrumentation for observing model and system behaviour
  • Test frontier model capabilities through realistic end-to-end applications
  • Identify technical limitations and integration issues during development

Engineering Analysis & Debugging

  • Diagnose model, application, and integration failure modes
  • Investigate unexpected system behaviour and implementation problems
  • Document reproducible technical issues clearly
  • Translate engineering observations into actionable written feedback
  • Support research and engineering teams with technically precise findings

Rapid Prototyping & Delivery

  • Prototype solutions quickly as requirements evolve
  • Onboard onto unfamiliar codebases and contribute working code with minimal ramp-up
  • Deliver functional increments with limited up-front specification
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical leadership on architecture and implementation decisions
  • Maintain consistent standards for code quality and technical documentation

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • At least 3 years of dedicated professional software engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience building and shipping production software
  • Production expertise in at least one of Python, Java, Rust, C#, or C++
  • Working proficiency in a second programming language or technical ecosystem
  • Experience developing backend services and APIs
  • Hands-on experience with React or another modern frontend framework
  • Experience with relational or document databases
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment and production environments
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar codebases and deliver working software quickly
  • Demonstrable professional progression
  • Strong written communication and technical reasoning skills
  • Reliable weekday availability for approximately 40 hours per week

Educational Background

  • A degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline may be helpful
  • Advanced technical education may strengthen an application
  • Equivalent professional software engineering experience may also be considered
  • Hands-on production engineering experience is particularly important for this engagement

Nice to Have

  • Professional experience across multiple programming-language ecosystems
  • Strong Python, Java, Rust, C#, C++, or TypeScript experience
  • Experience building AI-powered applications
  • Familiarity with LLM or foundation-model APIs
  • Experience developing evaluation harnesses or engineering tooling
  • Background building internal developer tools or platforms
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and production operations
  • Familiarity with observability, telemetry, and system instrumentation
  • Experience working in fast-moving technology or research environments

Why This Opportunity

  • Build production-quality software around frontier AI systems
  • Work across backend, frontend, databases, cloud, and model-integration workflows
  • Test advanced AI capabilities through realistic software applications
  • Identify technical limitations and integration failures before broader deployment
  • Collaborate with experienced engineering and research teams
  • Develop working software across multiple modern technology stacks
  • Contribute full-time to technically demanding, rapidly evolving projects

Contract Details

  • Full-time W-2 contingent employment opportunity
  • Expected commitment of approximately 40 hours per week during weekdays
  • Competitive rates between $45โ€“$60 per hour depending on experience and project scope
  • Work may include full-stack application development, API integration, AI model testing, debugging, engineering tooling, and technical documentation
  • Candidates should have production experience in at least one of Python, Java, Rust, C#, or C++, together with working proficiency in a second technical ecosystem
