Job description

Job Title: Semi-Diesel Mechanic, Level 1, 2 and 3

Location: 1000 N Villa Ave, Villa Park, IL 60181
Company: Quality Parts and Repair (Division of DSL Express)
Job Type: Full-time (Part-time will be considered)
Salary: $25-$50 per hour (depending on experience and specialties)
Certifications Required: ASE Certification preferred but not required.
Job Description:
Quality Parts and Repair is seeking skilled and experienced semi-diesel mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diagnostics & electrical, engine work, and the replacement of engine components, clutch, transmission, and differentials as well as the ability to work with diagnostics and electrical as well as the ability to work on complete engine rebuilds. We will NOT exclude candidates with lesser skill sets as we need more than one type of candidate including those who are entry level and are looking to expand an entire team to include various levels of expertise. Candidates may possess any or all of these skills and will be considered, with the pay scale based on their level of expertise, years of experience and other factors.
Responsibilities:
Level 1: Replacement of Engine Components, Clutches, Transmissions, Brakes, Suspensions, Differentials. Work duties may include supervised assistant/trainee duties involving level 2 and 3 objectives.
 
Pay Scale:
$25-$35 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Details: 
  • Entry-level technicians who perform troubleshooting, routine maintenance and component replacements. 
  • May also handle non-technical tasks, such as parts socking and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Replace engine components, clutch, transmission, and differentials – Parts Swapping.
  • Conduct minor engine repairs and replacements – Parts Swapping.
  • Perform minor repairs, such as replacing filters, hoses, and belts.
  • Ensure all replaced parts are functioning correctly.
  • Assist in performing DOT annual inspections on vehicles.

Level 2: Diagnostics & Electrical Specialist. Work duties may include any of the Level 1 objectives.
 

Pay Scale: $35-$40 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Perform diagnostics and electrical repairs on semi-diesel engines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks.
  • Experience with industry-standard diagnostics software.
  • Assist in performing DOT annual inspections on vehicles.

Level 3: Engine Work and Rebuilds. Work duties may also include any of the Level 1 and 2 objectives.
 

Pay Scale: $40-$50 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Perform routine engine maintenance and repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair engine-related issues.
  • Ability to do full engine rebuilds and overhauls.
  • Ability to perform transmission and turbo rebuilds is a bonus.
  • Replace and refurbish parts.
  • Maintain maintenance logs.
  • Ensure services meet quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles.
 
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a semi-diesel mechanic.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience is a serious bonus.
  • Military motor pool experience is desirable.
