Position DescriptionSoftball Umpire  Position: Softball UmpireReports to: Athletic SupervisorSalary Range: $25-29 per game SUMMARY: Supervise all activities associated with a Bridgeton Adult Softball League game. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Officiate adult softball games applying the standard rules and regulations associated with Bridgeton Adult Softball leagues.Determine the playability of the field.Maintain control of the game through making the proper judgment calls associated with a softball game.Treat participants in a professional and polite manner and handles disputes between participants in accordance with the City's established procedures.Alert the appropriate City staff regarding maintenance issues to ensure safe and proper working order and to present an attractive, positive image.Keep inning-by-inning score.Assist with field preparations during wet conditions when needed.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Required: Have a thorough working knowledge of the rules associated with softball. Preferred: Umpire certification through a national softball association.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Mental: Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others. Able to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately. Must be able to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work independently and follow both oral and written instructions. Communicates clearly both verbally and written.
