Job Description
The Head Coach/Women's Softball is responsible for the overall operation of the College's intercollegiate women's softball team for the spring season.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assists the Director/Athletics & Recreation with finalizing the softball schedule.
  • Recruits prospective student-athletes from area high schools, colleges, and/or the general student population in accordance with the college's recruitment policy.
  • Holds tryouts for team formation.
  • Develops and implements net revenue generating and/or fundraising activities for the program and athletics department.
  • Develops and implements interest-building events for Westmoreland athletics.
  • Coordinates distribution and collection of all softball equipment and uniforms.
  • Conducts a sufficient number of practice sessions each week, with each session lasting approximately one and one-half hours.
  • Ensures safety procedures are followed while coaching.
  • Supervises the assistant coach, the statisticians, and the team managers.
  • Ensures appropriate conduct is observed by all team members and personnel at both "home" and "away" games and at all practice sessions.
  • Assists with organization and administration of the WPCC and Region tournaments, when those tournaments are hosted by the college.
  • Assists with reporting game scores and summary to the Athletic office following each game.
  • Performs other Head Coach duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field desired; recreation/physical education major preferred
  • Previous softball coaching and/or teaching experience desired.
  • First-aid and CPR certifications required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
