They are seeking a Managing Editor to lead a new consumer reviews brand, defining the editorial voice, setting quality standards, and managing day-to-day publishing operations while building a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the editorial North Star for your team — the person writers look to for standards, feedback and direction
• Define and document the editorial product — first-person, test-driven, long-form consumer reviews
• Establish and enforce editorial standards for voice, sourcing, fact-checking, affiliate disclosure language and EEAT compliance
• Manage the team’s editorial calendar, coordinating both national and market-specific content tracks, ensuring consistent, on-time delivery to publisher partners
• Design and optimize a content production pipeline from assignment to publication
• Integrate AI tools into the editorial workflow, while maintaining editorial judgment, accuracy and brand voice.
• Lead senior editorial hiring: onboard senior writers and editors across Fashion & Apparel, Beauty, Home Goods, Footwear and adjacent categories
• Vet every writer under the brand's banner through hiring decisions, editing standards and ongoing performance feedback
• Manage a freelance roster of 8–12 contributors
• Partner with data and product teams to optimize content performance, test distribution strategies and inform editorial priorities
• Collaborate with the EIC on publisher/partner editorial relationships and recurring reviews.
Qualifications:

• Category breadth in soft goods — apparel, footwear, beauty, home and adjacent verticals
• Recent experience managing a team of writers and editors
• Ownership of an editorial calendar
• Demonstrated ability to hit high volume publishing deadlines
• Maintained editorial standards for quality, voice and accuracy
• Familiarity with EEAT compliance, SEO
• Proven leadership in hiring, coaching and performance management
• *Please note, this role is focused on written consumer reviews and is not suited to candidates whose primary background is video or audio production*
Preferred:
• Experience at a consumer publisher or digital media company (Wirecutter, Strategist, CNN Underscored, NBC Select)
• Experience collaborating with data science or product teams
• Experience with performance-driven or revenue-supported publishing models
