Job description

Snowflake Data Engineer Data Validator ITAR Export Control Project

We are seeking a skilled Snowflake Data Engineer to join our ITAR International Traffic in Arms Regulations project team. As a Snowflake Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, validating, and maintaining scalable Snowflake data pipelines and solutions in compliance with ITAR regulations. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with Snowflake, Core SQL skills, cloud ETL processes, Python, GitHub, ControlM, Redwood orchestration, and a strong understanding of ITAR compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Snowflake Data Modeling: Design and implement efficient data models in Snowflake to support ITAR compliance requirements. Optimize schema designs for performance and scalability.
  • ETL Development: Develop ETL processes on IICS Informatica Integration cloud Services to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Snowflake. Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity throughout the ETL pipelines.
  • Snowflake Implementation: Configure and optimize Snowflake features such as clustering, materialized views, and automatic scaling to maximize performance and minimize costs.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all data processing activities adhere to ITAR regulations. Implement security controls and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and analyze the performance of Snowflake data pipelines. Identify bottlenecks and optimize queries and processes for improved efficiency.
  • Data Validation: Validating the data rules created by the development team as part of data validation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and IT professionals to understand data requirements and deliver robust data solutions.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for Snowflake data pipelines including data models, ETL processes, and compliance procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve data-related issues promptly. Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Snowflake features and best practices. Continuously evaluate and propose enhancements to existing data infrastructure.
  • Offshore Peer Team Management: Coordinate and be flexible in coordinating with the peers from offshore and onsite team engagement. Should be flexible in delivering the tasks on time and ready to work on business critical ad-hoc requests.
Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen and should not have dual citizenship other than US. Work Visa like H1 L1 B1 etc are not eligible.
  • Must have 8-15 years of tool business experience.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Must possess hands-on experience in Snowflake and demonstrate a strong ability to write and optimize code on a daily basis ensuring efficient data operations management.
  • Proven experience as a Snowflake Data Engineer preferably in ITAR-regulated environments.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL data modeling and IICS ETL processes. Should have Core SQL Knowledge.
  • Experience with Snowflake features like data retention, clustering, materialized views, data shares, clones, resource monitoring.
  • Familiarity with ITAR compliance requirements and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant Snowflake certifications eg SnowPro, Snow Architect would be a plus.
