Department OverviewApplied Technology is a prototyping center within Motorola Solutions. We specialize in proof-of-concept and low-volume advanced communications products for government and industry customers.
Our Automated Assembly SMT line delivers high-quality populated PCBs essential to these mission-critical devices. We foster a customer-centric, collaborative environment that supports growth and innovation.
Job Description

Provide essential technical support to maintain peak performance of the Applied Technology SMT line. Partner with engineering to monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot the assembly process, ensuring reliable production of advanced electronics.
Specific tasks include the following:

  • Develop/modify, test, and debug programs for new or revised SMTapplications.

  • Perform preventative maintenance to include the following: setup, test, characterize, and debug new or existing equipment

  • Diagnose, correct, and repair a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, and software issues to minimize downtime on the SMT line.

  • Participate in the development of new or revised SMT processes.

  • Knowledge and ability to set up, operate, and maintain automated equipment. Specific knowledge of screen printers, placement equipment and reflow ovens a plus.

  • Knowledge of advanced rework equipment is a plus.

  • Must have a working knowledge of basic electronics, mechanical principles, such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive mechanisms. Skills required also include data entry as related to computer controlled equipment.

  • Effective oral and written communications skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment are essential.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Must follow safe working procedures and practice impeccable housekeeping.

  • Strong team player mindset, focused on collaborative problem-solving in manufacturing.

  • Must have the ability to work various schedules as required.

Target Base Salary Range: $32,700 - $51,700 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

  • ASEE or 1+ years of relevant manufacturing support experience.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts. Some contracts may have higher-level clearance requirements.
