Job Summary
Objective
Perform various skilled and complex tasks in the repair and maintenance of automated production machinery/equipment including, but not limited to, high speed automated assembly line equipment, contact welding and press machines, robotic coil winders, axial and radial inserters, wave soldering machines, and SMT equipment. Responsible to continuously improve the equipment and machinery while demonstrating excellence in maintenance service.
Lead troubleshooting and repair electrical, controls and communications issues on complex production lines, which include PLC, HMI, motion control, VFDs, servo motors/drives, industrial networks and vision inspection systems to return equipment to production.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
  • Monitor, analyze, diagnose, solve, and then fine tune/repair machine problems in collaboration with manufacturing engineering and production supervisors.
  • Read / Interpret blueprints, drawings, wiring schematic diagrams, and complex equipment manuals.
  • Utilize advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in problem assessment. Tests and evaluate equipment performance.
  • Utilize effective PLC diagnostics and programming skills.
  • Support development / implementation of preventative maintenance programs on all equipment.
  • Work closely with production supervisors to schedule PM activities.
  • Train production operators on how to perform and assist with simple PM duties.
  • Support developing and maintaining the equipment spare parts inventory.
  • May complete purchase requisitions for the purchase of spare parts.
  • Investigate causes of machine problems, raw materials, tooling and equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to processes and equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Properly document new procedures and machine changes or additions. Accurately complete all paperwork associated with PM and machine downtime.
  • May create special fixtures or modify existing equipment with the use of surface grinders, milling machines, arc welder, and lathes.
  • Utilize various diagnostic equipment and measuring devices such as voltmeters, calipers, micrometers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Support / Participate in the Company's management and quality system including continuous improvement efforts.

Experience:
  • 4+ years' superior Maintenance Technician troubleshooting / problem-solving / bringing solutions to Automated Assembly Equipment issues.

Education:
  • High School, Technical Certificate, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or Equivalent

Certifications: N/A
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • 2+ years' experience in maintenance of automated assembly equipment.
  • Ability to operate all production equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment operating under PLC's, robotics, machining, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensor controls.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with strong time and project management skills.
  • Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel). Familiarity with computerized PM program preferred.
  • Preventative maintenance experience with exposure to computer software and systems.
  • Ongoing ability to compete high level mechanical diagnostic, calibration, set-up and repair duties as required.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to support teamwork process, collaborating with functional experts (Test Technicians, Process Engineers, Test Operations Group)
  • Ability to support compliance of ISO9001 / IATF16949 regulations
