Job description

NOVO Building Products has an opening for a CDLA Truck Driver at our Allentown, PA distribution warehouse. This position includes a dedicated truck and regional/local routes. Our drivers deliver millwork products to customers across a designated region.

This position is out 1-2 nights per week

CDL-A Drivers receive:

  • Hourly Pay! $23 - 33/hr. based on experience (approx. earning potential with overtime $57k - 91k annually)
  • $45 per diem for any overnights

Additionally, our drivers have:

  • No touch freight and no lumpers
  • No Backhauls
  • Less than 30 minutes wait when unloading
  • Dependable/driver-focused dispatch

Essential Responsibilities

  • Drives tractor-trailers or straight trucks to deliver materials and merchandise to customers as directed by the Logistics Department.
  • Performs inspection of tractor and trailer before each start drive and post-drive per company and DOT (Department of Transportation) policies and regulations.
  • Communicate any discrepancies, product issues, or safety issues with the Fleet Supervisor.
  • Keeps required fuel, stop-per-mile, trip sheets, and DOT e-logs accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with all regulatory requirements
  • Adheres to all DOT and Company safety and traffic regulations.
  • Scales load before departure of home domicile
  • Supervises the unloading of materials at their destination and maintains all delivery/pick-up related paperwork, noting and reporting discrepancies on Bills of Lading, delivery tickets, and other company-required documents.
  • Opens and closes curtains and secures loads by ratcheting down straps on trailers to facilitate loading and unloading multiple times per route.
  • May assist in duties within the warehouse, meeting requirements of material handler position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualification

  • Must have CDL Class A certification
  • Effectively perform all essential functions, including physical requirements.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Basic math, interpersonal/team, and reasoning skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out written procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Flexibility in scheduling – able to work overtime as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to three years preferred commercial driving experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Travel Requirements

  • Travel as necessary to ensure customer deliveries are made accurately and on time.
  • It may require overnight travel

*This bonus will be awarded in three lump sum payments if attendance requirements are met; the first $3,000 will be paid 90 days after hire, the second $3,000 will be paid after six months of employment, and the remaining $4,000 will be paid after completion of one year of employment. This signing bonus is taxable, and all regular payroll taxes will be withheld. In the event you leave Novo within 12 months of your date of hire, you will be responsible for reimbursing half of the amount paid at that time to the company.
