Job description

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Seres Smith Consulting

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Position Summary

The CFO will join the executive leadership team and report directly to the CEO. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of financial planning, accounting, capital management, and risk oversight to support continued growth in the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Financial Leadership
    • Develop and execute a financial strategy aligned with the company’s vision.
    • Collaborate with leadership to evaluate business models, product lines, and investment opportunities.
    • Drive capital allocation priorities and scale financial operations as the leasing fleet grows.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
    • Lead budgeting, long-term forecasting, scenario planning, and variance analysis.
    • Deliver insights to optimize lease profitability, capital expenditures, and debt structure.
  • Accounting & Financial Reporting
    • Oversee all accounting functions including month-end close, lease accounting, revenue recognition, tax compliance, and audit coordination.
    • Prepare board-level financial reporting and disclosures.
    • Manage two financial controllers.
  • Treasury & Capital Management
    • Oversee banking relationships, lease funding structures, and working capital optimization.
    • Monitor liquidity, cash flow, and covenant compliance.
    • Serve as primary liaison to the asset-based lender and oversee related reporting and appraisals.
  • Risk, Compliance & Internal Controls
    • Maintain strong financial controls, compliance practices, and reporting standards.
    • Collaborate with legal and external advisors on corporate governance and financial policy.
  • Team & Operations Leadership
    • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team across accounting and FP&A.
    • Work cross-functionally to support operational and growth initiatives.
    • Serve as back-up leadership for operations in the CEO’s absence.
Qualifications

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. MBA or CMA is a plus.

Experience

  • 8+ years in progressive financial leadership roles within leasing, asset finance, energy, or industrial services.
  • Strong knowledge of lease accounting standards, capital leases, and long-term lease economics.

Technical Expertise

  • Expertise in financial modeling, KPI/ROI analysis, and capital planning.
  • Solid grasp of debt structures and operating vs. equipment leasing models.

Leadership & Communication

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable representing the company in client-facing financial discussions.

Personal Competencies

  • Detail-oriented, hands-on, and solution-driven.
  • Passionate about clean energy and enabling sustainable transitions.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, and accounting systems such as QuickBooks.
