Job description

Job Title: Fabrication Welder

Category: Operations

Location: Piketon, OH

FSLA: Non-Exempt

Status: Full time

Fabrication Welder - Position Overview:

Under direct supervision, performs fabrication shop support duties related to the manufacturing and fabrication shop. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas:

  • Performs work in a safe and efficient manner under the company’s safety and quality programs.
  • Performs welding functions as needed using standard welding techniques to include, but not limited to, Stick, TIG, MIG; performs brazing as needed.
  • Perform manual labor functions to include lifting of items that may exceed 50LBS. Support is provided when needed to ensure safe handling of all items.
  • Performs maintenance/supports fabrication when necessary.
  • Operates forklift trucks as needed. Training will be provided.
  • Operates Mill, lathe, ironworker, rollers, and shears as needed.
  • Setup and operate CNC machines in a safe manner to perform machine functions on metal work pieces.
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications in order to detect malfunctions.
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts, using solvents or solutions and rags.
  • Often times must work independently while maintain a schedule but must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:

Works in a fabrication shop environment. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.

  • Ability to perform moderate to labor intense work, exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, non-repetitive, up to 25 pounds frequently, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching for extended periods of time


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of work experience using machines and welding, or equivalent schooling
  • Fabrication skills
  • TIG, MIG, Stick experience
  • 2+ years experience with TIG welding, stainless steel
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Ability to follow directions which may be in print form
  • Must pass pre-employment test to include performance test (weld, machine test) and drug testing
  • Must be 18 years of age or older


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fabrication shop equipment.
  • Understanding fraction and decimal conversions a must
  • Quality background in Manufacturing preferred
  • Manufacturing background highly preferred
  • Certified Weld Inspector preferred
  • Vocational education is preferred
  • Lathe and mill experience preferred
