HUALAPAI PREFERENCE

Position: Small Engine Mechanic - Pontoon
Department: Hualapai River Running
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: H4
Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor HRR

Position Summary:
Provides overall maintenance and mechanical services for outboard motors used by Hualapai River Running. Responsible for inventory of shop parts needed for small engine repair and maintenance. Assist Maintenance Mechanics with shop activities, as needed. May also provide assistance to River Guides. Interprets operating, maintenance and repair manuals. Provides quality customer service at all times while following safety and health procedures and policies.

Knowledge and Abilities:
  1. Ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance and repair duties of outboard motors. May also be required to assist Maintenance Mechanics as they perform other maintenance and repair duties for HRR.
  2. Ability to read and understand operating, maintenance and repair manuals for outboard motors. Some of this information may be obtained through online methods.
  3. Ability to monitor the condition and maintenance motors.
  4. Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  5. Ability to work in outdoor and shop environment for long periods of time.
  6. Ability to work in a team environment and establish and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and the ability to work independently as well as in support of the group effort.
  7. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Perform maintenance and repair of outboard motors. May also assist in maintenance and repair of equipment, gas and diesel engines, structures, vehicles and machinery for Hualapai River Running.
  2. Monitor the condition and maintain logs of maintenance and repair activities for outboard motors. Schedule regular motor maintenance.
  3. Interpret and translate into action information provided by maintenance and repair manuals, either online or in the physical manuals.
  4. Maintain maintenance equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition. Label, dilute and use all chemicals in a proper manner. Follow safety and health policies and procedures at all times.
  5. Assist with inventory and order shop supplies, when authorized.
  6. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  1. Good oral communication skills.
  2. Valid Drivers License with clean driving record. Commercial Drivers License preferred.
  3. Prior auto mechanic experience or equivalent training or education desired.
  4. High School Diploma or GED and 21 years of age.
  5. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Working Conditions:
Position requires ability to work indoors in a shop environment as well as in outdoor environment occasionally. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
