Position at VSS International, Inc.
"OUR PEOPLE ARE OUR STRATEGY"
VSS International, Inc. is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to join our Slurry Seal and Chip Seal road construction crews for a temporary project located in the San Joaquin County area.
Crew members will support slurry seal and chip seal operations, working alongside experienced operators and supervisors to safely and efficiently complete roadway preservation work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with slurry seal and chip seal operations on roadways
  • Operate or support equipment such as slurry trucks, chip spreaders, and related tools
  • Perform pre- and post-operation cleaning of tanks, hoses, and equipment
  • Support traffic control setup and maintain safe work zones
  • Participate in general labor duties including material handling and site preparation
  • Work closely with crew members, operators, and supervisors during paving operationsFollow all safety guidelines, including DOT/OSHA regulations while working in active roadways

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior construction or road maintenance experience preferred (slurry/chip seal a plus)Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to perform physically demanding work (lifting, standing, walking for extended periods)Strong teamwork and communication skillsValid driver's license required (Class A preferred for equipment roles)
  • 1-3 years of work on a slurry crew.
WORK ENVIORNMENT :
  • Works alone and with others
  • Works in outside weather conditions subjecting incumbent to extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • Exposed to fumes/odors/dirt/dust/heat/cold/noise/wetness and humidity and vibration.
  • Often exposed to darkness and/or poor lighting.
  • Exposed to pressurized equipment, moving objects, high places and hazardous materials.
  • Exposed to elevated workplace/mechanical hazards, explosives, electrical hazards and fire hazards.
  • Standing for long periods of time in one place.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs with assistance. 50lb without assistance.
  • Climate often hot in summer and cold in winter.
