Overview
Speech-Language Pathologist, Acute Care, in a surgery center setting located in Tuba City, Arizona. This travel–temporary assignment begins on 11/16/2026 and runs for 13 weeks. Guaranteed 36 hours per week with a 5x8 shift (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). Weekly pay ranges from $2,387 to $2,456 per week. The role provides inpatient and outpatient speech therapy to a predominantly Native American patient population; SLPA candidates are not eligible for this opening.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services for patients from birth through geriatric age, focusing on developmental, cognitive, emotional, and physical needs.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders; develop and implement treatment plans aligned with physician referrals and patient goals.
- Conduct specialty evaluations and procedures as needed, including swallowing assessments (e.g., VFSS/MBS, FEES) and related modalities; participate in multidisciplinary care planning with rehabilitation and medical teams.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and termination summaries in the electronic health record; adjust plans based on patient progress and physician input.
- Educate patients, families, and staff on therapy approaches and home programs to promote carryover of therapy in daily activities; provide patient and caregiver training and resources.
- Maintain compliance with ASHA standards, state licensure requirements, and facility policies; participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives; contribute to ongoing professional development and supervision activities as appropriate.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program
- Licensure: Valid, current SLP license (Arizona or eligible state) and ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a licensed SLP, with pediatric (birth–5 years) and adult (including dysphagia and neuro) caseloads
- Settings: Ability to provide services in inpatient and outpatient environments within a surgery center setting
- Qualifications: Not accepting Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) candidates for this opening
- Orientation: Willingness to participate in onboarding/orientation every two weeks
- Additional: Must meet credentialing requirements to serve on the medical staff per facility standards
