We are seeking a creative, trend-driven, and highly organized Designer, Sleepwear to join our growing Jaclyn division. This role is responsible for designing and developing innovative sleepwear collections across various distribution channels, owning the design process from concept through execution while ensuring product aligns with customer expectations, business objectives, and seasonal milestones.


Reporting to the Design Director, the Designer will partner closely with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle and be supported by an Associate Designer and/or Assistant Designer. The ideal candidate combines a strong creative eye with technical product expertise, thrives in a fast-paced, calendar-driven environment, and can effectively balance creative leadership, account ownership, and team collaboration. Responsibilities

  • Design trend-right sleepwear collections that align with customer needs, brand direction, and business objectives.
  • Research and interpret market trends, consumer insights, color direction, fabric innovations, prints, graphics, and silhouettes relevant to the sleepwear and loungewear categories.
  • Create seasonal concepts, mood boards, CADs, detailed sketches, colorways, and presentation materials.
  • Develop comprehensive tech packs and design packages to communicate product specifications and design intent to cross-functional teams and overseas partners.
  • Partner closely with Product Development, Technical Design, Production, Sales, and Sourcing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Source and recommend fabrics, trims, treatments, prints, and embellishments that support both aesthetic and cost objectives.
  • Participate in fittings and sample reviews, providing feedback to ensure design integrity, garment construction, fit, and quality standards are maintained.
  • Review and approve lab dips, strike-offs, print submissions, fabric qualities, and prototypes.
  • Manage multiple seasonal calendars simultaneously while maintaining awareness of key milestones, customer deadlines, and development timelines.
  • Present concepts, line reviews, and product updates to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Analyze competitive market offerings and identify opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of retailer-specific requirements, customer preferences, and market trends within the sleepwear category.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and day-to-day direction to Assistant and Associate Designers, helping prioritize workload, review design execution, and support professional development.
  • Delegate development and administrative tasks appropriately while maintaining ownership of seasonal design direction and account strategy.
  • Support a collaborative team environment and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Sleepwear division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 4+ years of apparel design experience, with direct experience in sleepwear required.
  • Experience in loungewear, intimate apparel, or adjacent categories is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrication, and product development processes.
  • Proven ability to create detailed tech packs and communicate design intent effectively.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required; Photoshop proficiency preferred.
  • Experience working within PLM systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to proactively manage seasonal calendars and key milestones.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience designing for Walmart or other large-volume retailers is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and operate with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Passion for fashion, trends, and product innovation with a strong eye for detail and commercial product development.

New York Pay Rate $67,000.00 - $90,000.00
