Position Responsibilities

To ensure oversight of the Sleep Lab, there will be a single Medical Director who is licensed by the state of Florida. This physician will be certified and trained in Sleep.

  • Responsible for the direct and ongoing testing and operation of the Lab.
  • Responsible for the medical supervision of the technicians employed at MSMC
  • Provides continuous quality improvement, including case review and design and implementation of quality indicators
  • Provide education and guidance to internal medicine and pulmonary residents and fellows.
  • Assists with the development of the MSMC Sleep Lab and participates in marketing strategies.
  • Assures compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Participates in selection of new equipment.
  • Provides direct consultation to other physicians where such input is necessary to provide care

Requirements

  • The Medical Director must be an MD or DO.
  • The Medical Director must have successfully completed training in ACGME-accredited fellowship in Sleep Medicine
  • The Sleep Medicine Director must be board certified in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
  • The Medical Director must maintain a valid, unrestricted license commensurate with the services he/she performs in the state where patients are seen as required by state law
  • The Sleep Medical Director reports to the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Division
