What is Skyline Design?

Skyline Design is a company specializing in the design, manufacture, and installation of decorative architectural glass products for commercial and residential spaces. Their work includes custom glass solutions for interiors and exteriors, such as partitions, walls, doors, and facades. Skyline Design collaborates with architects, designers, and clients to create tailored glass products that enhance both aesthetics and functionality. Their projects often feature unique patterns, textures, and materials to achieve distinctive design goals.

What is the difference between Skyline Design vs Interior Designer?

AspectSkyline DesignInterior Designer
CredentialsTypically requires a degree in design or architecture, certifications may varyRequires a degree in interior design or related field, certification often preferred
Work EnvironmentDesign firms, architecture companies, or freelance projectsDesign firms, architectural firms, or independent consulting
Industry UsageUsed in architectural and urban design contextsPrimarily in residential, commercial, and hospitality interior spaces

Skyline Design and Interior Designer roles often overlap in design principles and credentials. However, Skyline Design typically refers to broader architectural or urban design projects, while Interior Designers focus specifically on interior spaces. Both roles require design education and work in related environments, but their project scopes differ.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Skyline Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Skyline Designer, you need a solid background in architectural design, spatial planning, and a relevant degree in architecture or urban planning. Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp, and familiarity with building codes and 3D modeling tools are typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams. These competencies are crucial for creating visually appealing, functional, and compliant skyline projects that meet client and regulatory expectations.

What are the typical challenges faced by designers at Skyline Design, and how can new hires best prepare for them?

Designers at Skyline Design often work on projects that require balancing aesthetic innovation with client specifications and manufacturing constraints. New hires may find it challenging to manage multiple deadlines while ensuring high-quality, customized glass solutions. Collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and production teams is essential, so strong communication and adaptability are key. To prepare, familiarize yourself with the company's portfolio, brush up on relevant design software, and be ready to navigate fast-paced, detail-oriented project cycles.

Job description

As a Senior Geospatial Systems Software Engineer, you will lead the design and integration of advanced geospatial and intelligence platforms. Your work will translate operational and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and forward-looking architectures that align with Army modernization and convergence efforts.
What You’ll Do:
Architect, develop, and optimize enterprise-grade GIS applications and solutions.
Provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle — from requirements gathering and system design to implementation and delivery.
Guide teams in Agile/Scrum environments, supporting DevSecOps best practices and CI/CD workflows.
Oversee containerization strategies and deployment pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
Lead system integration efforts with geospatial databases (PostGIS/PostgreSQL), services (ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, GeoServer), and COTS tools (ENVI, RemoteView, Erdas Imagine, Skyline).
Design and implement advanced geospatial data pipelines including acquisition, processing, and transformation at scale.
Ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and implement robust access control strategies.
Lead the implementation of automated Static Code Analysis and Container Scanning within the CI/CD pipeline and drive the remediation of vulnerabilities to ensure spatial microservices and data layers are hardened and audit ready.
Architect and implement secure, interoperable geospatial services utilizing OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standards (WMS, WFS, WMTS, WCS, and OGC API – Features) to ensure seamless data exchange across multi-domain DoD and Intelligence Community platforms.
Support AI/ML model integration by developing data frameworks, model benchmarks, and performance metrics.
Conduct and lead peer reviews, QA/QC evaluations, code validation, and database design sessions.
Act as a technical liaison with stakeholders, translating mission requirements into scalable geospatial solutions.
Mentor junior and mid-level developers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Stay current on emerging geospatial, AI, and cloud technologies to influence strategic decisions.
Required Qualifications:
Proven leadership in developing and managing enterprise GIS solutions in secure environments.
Advanced experience with Python, JavaScript, C++, HTML, SQL, and C#.
Deep expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GeoServer, and PostGIS/PostgreSQL.
Strong understanding of RMF compliance, cybersecurity practices, and access management.
Significant experience with DevSecOps, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift), and CI/CD pipelines.
Expertise in architecting secure geospatial solutions that adhere to STIG compliance and enterprise security benchmarks.
Expert-level knowledge of OGC standards and their implementation within enterprise service-oriented architectures and cloud-native environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead Agile teams and mentor other engineers.
Familiarity with AI/ML integration and geospatial data science is highly desirable.
