Household Manager (with Meal Prep Support)

Location: Broadlands, Virginia 20148

Employment Type: Part-time, 1215 hours per week (12 hours guaranteed), flexibility for occasional House Sitting

Schedule: 3 days per week, flexible between 9:00 AM 5:00 PM

Compensation: $2830 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

We are a busy family of four, plus Mowgli, our friendly long-haired cat. We live in a spacious home that we love, but keeping up with the daily maintenance and organization can feel overwhelming. What we really need is someone who can help us maintain the day-to-day so that our time together as a family can be focused on being present with each other.

Key ResponsibilitiesLaundry & Linen Care
  • Wash, fold, organize, and put away all family laundry and household linens
  • Maintain regular linen rotation, including sheets, pillowcases, and towels
  • Keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked with supplies
Household Management & Organization
  • Perform daily resets and light tidying throughout the home, including dishes, surfaces, litter box maintenance and vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Prepare the home for monthly cleaner visits
  • Create and maintain household organization systems
  • Seasonal swaps (dcor, bedding)
  • Occasionally: prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Packing/unpacking for travel
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
Meal Planning & Prep
  • Plan and prep healthy meals (easy grab and go breakfasts, bulk salad lunch, 2-3x dinner weeklyprepped or cooked)
  • Prep healthy snacks (fruits and veggies washed, cut and prepped)
  • Prep school lunches (5x weekly)
  • Coordinate grocery list for family (using Skylight)
  • Follow healthy dietary preferences
  • Clean up the kitchen after meal prep
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Organizational projects (toys, gear, desks, closets)
  • Occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh garage/mudroom/entry
  • Clean humidifiers/air purifiers
Inventory Management
  • Manage and contribute to household supply lists via Skylight calendar
  • Unload and unpack household deliveries and groceries
  • Break down boxes
Vehicle Management
  • Clean and organize family vehicles, removing kids' items and tidying interiors
Family Support
  • Maintain awareness of the family's Skylight calendar
  • Occasional light supervision or backup childcare
