What is a ski lodge?

A ski lodge is a type of accommodation located near ski resorts or in mountainous areas that serves as a base for skiing and other winter sports. Ski lodges typically offer amenities such as cozy rooms, communal lounges with fireplaces, dining options, and equipment storage. They provide a convenient and comfortable environment for guests looking to enjoy winter activities, socialize, and relax after a day on the slopes. Some ski lodges also offer ski rentals, lessons, and shuttle services to nearby ski lifts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a ski lodge manager?

To thrive as a Ski Lodge Manager, you need strong hospitality management skills, experience in customer service, and often a degree in hospitality or business. Familiarity with property management systems, booking software, and point-of-sale systems is typically required. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you motivate staff and ensure guest satisfaction. These abilities are crucial for maintaining smooth operations, high occupancy rates, and a positive guest experience in a seasonal and often fast-paced environment.

What are some common challenges faced by staff working at a ski lodge, and how can they be managed effectively?

Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as employees frequently collaborate across departments—such as front desk, housekeeping, and food service—to ensure seamless guest experiences. Staying organized and being adaptable can help manage these challenges, while many lodges provide on-the-job training and support to help staff succeed and advance within the hospitality industry.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes pride in great guest service, and isn't afraid to jump in wherever needed to keep the operation running smoothly.

The Front of House Manager will be the key leader on the floor during service, coordinating the team, supporting servers and bartenders, managing guest needs, and helping ensure an efficient and positive experience for our guests. During restaurant hours, this position will also support retail sales located within the dining room.

What You'll Do
  • Lead daily front-of-house restaurant and bar operations.

  • Coordinate servers, bartenders, bussers, and other front-of-house staff during service.

  • Keep service moving by monitoring table flow, guest needs, and staffing levels.

  • Jump in wherever needed, including bussing tables, running food, assisting servers, or supporting the bar.

  • Address guest concerns and resolve service issues professionally.

  • Assist with front-of-house and bar scheduling.

  • Train, coach, and support front-of-house employees.

  • Manage bar inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring usage.

  • Ensure the bar is properly stocked, organized, and operating according to resort procedures.

  • Support retail sales during restaurant hours, including assisting guests and processing retail transactions through the POS system.

  • Ensure accurate cash handling and POS procedures.

  • Work closely with the kitchen and other resort departments to ensure smooth operations.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining and service environment.

What We're Looking For
  • Previous restaurant, bar, hospitality, or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Hands-on management style and willingness to work alongside the team.

  • Ability to stay calm, organized, and solution-oriented during busy periods.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Experience with POS systems and inventory management is a plus.

  • Reliable and comfortable working in a seasonal, outdoor recreation environment.

  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts during the ski season.

Why Join Us?
