Project Overview:

Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.

Job Summary:

The Quality - Six Sigma Black Belt (Q-SSBB) will report to the M&T Manager of Quality (MOQ) and will be responsible for leading Six Sigma Process Improvement Efforts (PIE), including interface with artificial intelligence (AI) process improvements, within the Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Global Business Unit (GBU). The Q-SSBB will support the MOQ to develop and deliver a customized Six Sigma improvement program, including a strategy that meets GBU and Project Quality performance goals and objectives. The Q-SSBB will apply leadership skills, knowledge, experience, and process improvement tools to close performance gaps, resulting in institutionalized changes that measurably improve complex cross-functional processes and performance within the GBU. #LI-SM2

Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate PIEs or assist in designing new processes
  • Utilizing Six Sigma methodologies and tools (e.g. DMAIC, Lean and DFSS) to undertake and complete PIPs
  • Lead PIE team members to develop and update the team's charter and implementation plan
  • Assure the PIE team uses its time effectively, minimizing meetings through decision-making strategies and planning tools
  • Maintain the PIE team's project schedule and keeping the team moving toward completion of the project on time
  • Assure the institutionalization of PIEs where applicable by the Functional Managers and or Process Owners
  • Prepare PIE final reports and other documentation and ensuring all information is uploaded and saved by Records Retention
  • Documenting the PIE process with appropriate data, using the appropriate fields, and keeping the milestone data current and correct
  • Analyze data from processes and metrics across projects and functions
  • Conduct reviews of current procedures and processes, and identify areas for improvement
  • Work with support of Champions to develop business cases and perform GBU, Functional, or and/or project gap analysis
  • Assure Champions, Project Managers and Functional Managers understand how Six Sigma techniques apply to everyday operations
  • Interview and identifies candidates for Six Sigma Black Belt Training when requested by the Manager of Quality
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13years of relevant quality experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Completed Six Sigma DMAIC, DMADV, and Lean Process Improvement Projects (PIP) and Process Improvement Efforts (PIE) that can be provided upon request
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (certified by Bechtel and year, or certified by other named Company or Institution and year)
  • Must be a U.S Citizen
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience working on large complex Engineering, Procurement and Construction projects within Chip Manufacturing, Data Center, Electric Vehicle Battery, Pharmaceutical, Power Plants, Refineries, and on other large complex heavy industrial type projects
  • Experience working within or with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning and Startup work processes and business areas; or within complex industrial processes, systems or organizations Experience improving and optimizing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Startup work processes and business areas; or advanced experience optimizing complex industrial processes, systems or organizations
  • Experience completing PIPs or PIEs achieving measurable process improvement results on various types of complex processes, covering various scopes of work, with various disciplines and departments involved in the processes
  • Trained in Kaizen and / or Lean methodologies
  • Trained in team facilitation techniques
  • Trained in Causal Analysis techniques
  • Experience applying a structured approach to process analysis and problem solving
  • Experience establishing, monitoring, and analyzing data and reporting results
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of a PC computer, Microsoft software, database administration, Visio (or equivalent) and Minitab
