Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: $90,000โ€“$105,000

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Department: Engineering

Reports To: VP of Development

Position Summary

The Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for owning and improving manufacturing processes within a precision machining environment. This role focuses on process stability, troubleshooting, and driving measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, is comfortable working independently, and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to support production and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Process Ownership

  • Own and maintain assigned manufacturing processes, ensuring consistent performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Develop, optimize, and document machining processes, including tooling, fixturing, and workholding
  • Lead process validation activities and ensure production readiness for new and existing products
  • Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation
  • Support production with timely troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues

Production Support & Equipment

  • Serve as the primary engineering resource for designated production areas
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and uptime
  • Support equipment selection, installation, and process integration
  • Monitor and improve key metrics such as OEE, scrap, and cycle time

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure processes meet AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO, and customer-specific requirements
  • Support APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and PPAP activities as needed
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D) for production and quality issues
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives with measurable results
  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
  • Drive cost reduction, yield improvement, and cycle time reduction projects
  • Promote Lean manufacturing principles and standardization across operations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, process control, and production support
  • Experience troubleshooting and improving manufacturing processes independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP/MRP system experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in precision machining, automotive, aerospace, or high-reliability manufacturing
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and control plans
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification
  • Experience supporting CNC machining environments and process optimization
