Job description

AMT is seeking a Client Development Manager with 6-10 years of AEC-focused business development experience to own and execute client development and growth initiatives across our Site & Infrastructure Development and Surveying & SUE service lines. This role focuses on relationship development, opportunity creation, and strategic pursuit advancement in targeted public- and private-sector markets throughout the DMV region. Position can be located in our Rockville, MD or Washington, DC office and is Hybrid.
This position is ideal for a BD professional who wants clear market ownership, leadership visibility, and accountability for results, without direct staff management responsibilities.
Role Overview
The Client Development Manager serves as the scope owner for client development and pursuit positioning within defined markets and service lines. Working closely with divisional and executive leadership, this individual helps shape growth strategy, translate market intelligence into action, and advance opportunities from early engagement through pursuit.
This role reports to the Vice President - Director of the Site & Infrastructure Division and leads through influence, coordination, and strategic execution rather than direct staff management.
Base Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
Ownership: Participation in AMT's 100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)

Responsibilities
โ€ข Own and drive client development efforts for Site & Infrastructure and Survey/SUE markets, including identification, qualification, and advancement of opportunities.
โ€ข Develop and maintain trusted relationships with public agencies, private developers, teaming partners, and key industry stakeholders.
โ€ข Lead early engagement, account planning, and positioning activities for priority clients and prospects.
โ€ข Support and influence pursuit strategy, including go/no-go input, teaming strategy, and differentiation.
โ€ข Represent AMT at industry events, professional organizations, agency forums, and client meetings.
โ€ข Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to divisional leadership to inform growth strategy and investment decisions.
โ€ข Coordinate with marketing and technical teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective market presence.
โ€ข Track all client engagement, pursuits, and opportunity development activities within AMT's CRM system.
Client Development Leadership
โ€ข Lead recurring pipeline and opportunity review sessions with divisional leadership.
โ€ข Facilitate client and pursuit strategy discussions, including positioning, teaming, and competitive assessment.
โ€ข Maintain client contact plans and target account lists, with quarterly updates on progress and next steps.
โ€ข Track and report pursuits, proposals, wins/losses, and client activity, using CRM data to inform decision-making.
โ€ข Coach and support project managers and technical leaders on relationship development, client messaging, and positioning.
Risk, Quality & Professional Responsibility
โ€ข Apply sound judgment in opportunity qualification, aligned with AMT's risk management policies.
โ€ข Maintain awareness of project-related risks and support informed go/no-go discussions.
โ€ข Promote a culture of quality, professionalism, and safety, consistent with AMT's core values.
Qualifications
  • Qualifications
    โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
    โ€ข 6-10 years of business development or client development experience within the AEC industry.
    โ€ข Demonstrated success supporting pipeline growth, pursuits, and long-term client relationships.
    โ€ข Familiarity with the DMV AEC market, including public-sector agencies and/or private development clients.
    โ€ข Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
    โ€ข Experience using CRM platforms and pursuit tracking systems.
    Preferred: Experience supporting transportation, surveying, and/or SUE services.
