Job description

Lead Simulation Software Engineer

Company:

The Boeing Company

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Lead Simulation Software Engineer to support a proprietary program within the Air Dominance organization in Berkeley, MO.

This role will lead the design, architecture, and development of simulation models and frameworks to facilitate the testing and analysis needs of the program. The Lead Simulation Software Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in simulation and as a customer facing technical expert for Flight Simulation | Labs (FSL) products and capabilities. The simulation products being developed are critical to the success of the supported program. Work alongside exceptional Boeing engineers in a collaborative, inclusive team environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering activities, including development and maintenance of software architectures, requirements development, creating software designs, implementing complex software solutions, and testing / integration activities

  • Lead and approve the software development plan, including the architecture, major components, and delivery milestones in collaboration with the program architects and other FSL teams

  • Ensures software teams develop, document, and maintain architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for models and simulation frameworks

  • Work closely with FSL hardware teams to ensure delivery of first time quality in integrated simulation and lab products and capabilities

  • Lead efforts to collect customer inputs, prioritize needs across all stakeholders, and coordinate work across multiple scrum teams to meet customer deadlines.

  • Trains and mentors others

  • Works independently and provides technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams

  • Perform technical design reviews for development across FSL to ensure software quality, commonality, and engineering excellence

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Berkeley, MO.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start will be required

  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)

  • Bachelor Degree

  • 7+ years of experience in developing simulation related software

  • 7+ years of experience programming in C, C++, or C#

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware / software integration, emulation, and/or testing, preferably in a lab environment

  • 3+ years of experience leading a software development team through the full software life cycle

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance

  • Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering principles and tools (e.g. MSOSA)

  • Experience with distributed and containerized software architecture

  • Hands on experience developing on the Linux platform

  • Experience with Agile software development and related processes

  • Experience with secure software development environments at various levels of security
