Simulation and Modeling Engineer 3
ON-SITE: Salem, Oregon
US Citizens and Green Card holders only
We are seeking an experienced simulation software engineer to join our plant operations team and support the development of the control room simulator for a clean energy company. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers and operators to build and refine plant models, ensuring accuracy against engineering documentation. You will contribute to software development, testing, and troubleshooting while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update plant simulation models using industry tools (e.g., SimExec, JTopmeret, JElectric).
  • Apply knowledge of thermal-hydraulic and neutronic analysis codes (e.g., RELAP5, TRACE, Simulate3, MCNP).
  • Write software in Fortran, C++, and Python; manage code with Git/GitLab.
  • Document defects, propose solutions, and ensure configuration control.
  • Support simulator setup, maintenance, and limited hardware integration.
    Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering (ABET preferred).
  • 5+ years professional software development, including simulation/modeling.
  • Experience with simulation software and system codes (thermal-hydraulics, neutronics).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Compensation:
Target salary: $108,908 - $131,441 (full range: $97,642 - $152,722), plus comprehensive benefits.
