Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Simulation Quality and Compliance
- Supports simulation operations in accordance with International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning's Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards related to simulation laboratory operations.
- Ensures student compliance with lab policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
- Restores laboratory to pre-scenario conditions.
- Maintains accurate patient charts.
- Maintains a variety of records related to simulation lab operations and equipment.
- Maintains laboratory schedule, attendance records, and tracks laboratory usage.
Simulation Operations & Scenario Management
- Programs patient care simulators, prepares scenario props, and creates scenario moulage to model physiological responses to the clinical and skill objectives and specifications identified by faculty and other instructional staff.
- Sets up, operates, and manipulates patient care simulators and related media and computer equipment.
- Assists instructors with the implementation of virtual clinical medical scenarios.
- Explains to students the use of patient care simulators and related media and computer equipment.
- Supports faculty in simulation recording, playback, and debriefing technology.
Technology Integration
- Supports operation of simulation capture systems, virtual simulation platforms, and learning technologies.

- Receives, sets up, and tests new simulators and related multi-media and computer equipment.

Equipment Maintenance & Technical Support
- Performs preventative maintenance and repair of simulation, media and computer equipment in the lab.
- Diagnoses more serious equipment malfunctions and arranges for repair.
- Arranges for general maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment facilities.
- Troubleshoots patient care simulator, multi-media, and computer equipment problems.
Inventory, Supplies & Resource Management
- Orders, maintains, and provides security for supplies, materials, and equipment in the laboratory.
- Stores, discards, and rotates supplies and materials according to procedures.
- Manages lab inventories and supply management.
Faculty Training Support
- Assists faculty and staff in the use of simulation technologies and related instructional equipment.
- Supports faculty in simulation recording, playback, and debriefing technology.
- Assists instructors with the implementation of virtual clinical medical scenarios.
Data & Reporting
- Maintains utilization and operational data related to simulation activities and equipment performance.
- Maintains a variety of records related to simulation lab operations and equipment.

Student & Faculty Support

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
- One year of full-time, experience in the programming, operation, and maintenance of simulation based medical learning systems, or successful completion of a patient care simulator training program and one year of full-time, experience in direct patient care, or current valid certification in a health related field and one year of full-time, experience in direct patient care (training and/or experience with patient simulation equipment and related multi-media equipment is desirable.
