| Aspect | Simulation Intern | Simulation Engineer |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically pursuing or recent graduate in engineering, computer science, or related field | Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field |
| Work Environment | Internship programs, entry-level projects, supervised tasks | Full-time role, responsible for designing and analyzing simulations independently |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Internships in automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and tech companies | Engineering firms, R&D departments, tech companies in similar industries |
The main difference between a Simulation Intern and a Simulation Engineer lies in experience, responsibilities, and career level. Interns are typically students or recent graduates gaining initial exposure, while engineers are full-time professionals managing complex simulation projects independently.

In this role, you will help design and deliver electrical driven solutions that power smart lighting and shading systems. At Lutron, your interest in electrical engineering will grow through hands-on experience, practical skill-building, and collaboration with experienced electrical engineers in a supportive environment.
We consider interns to be very valuable in our search for exceptional future members of our team and pride ourselves in providing outstanding work experience to students from a wide variety of universities and backgrounds.
ResponsibilitiesYour internship at Lutron could offer you the opportunity to work on:

Your cumulative GPA is at least 3.20
You are a rising junior, rising senior, or master's student at the start of the internship
You have broad interest in engineering, design and development
You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.
Willingness and ability to work on-site 5 days per week
Lutron is a team-oriented environment, and you will work within these teams to look at broad issues and identify root causes, not just quick fixes. You must have a willingness to ask tough questions, seek out new resources, and work hard to find the best solution.
