THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON BID AWARD
The Medical Simulation Operator provides technical, administrative, analytical, and functional support for United States School of Aerospace Medicine medical simulation training at C-STARS Cincinnati. The position operates high-fidelity human patient simulator systems, Learning Management System and audio/visual solutions, simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized high-fidelity simulators, virtual reality procedural trainers, and related digital recording capabilities in support of simulation-based healthcare team training, scenario execution, performance evaluation, and program validation activities
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and support for operating high-fidelity patient simulator systems and assist in developing metrics to validate simulation-based team-training programs.
  • Assist with the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for healthcare teams for the purpose of improving patient outcomes.
  • Provide technical and analytical support for the Team Training Program at USAFSAM.
  • Provide digital video recording support, maintenance of existing equipment, analysis of team-training measures, simulation scenario design, and technical expertise in running simulators within a constrained or controlled simulation environment.
  • Provide support for digital video recording and simulators for other C-STARS training platforms.
  • Operate the Learning Management System and audio/visual solution used to view and evaluate learner performance during training and simulation events.
  • Provide analysis of team performance during pre- and post-simulated conditions to establish correlation between pre- and post-performance.
  • Utilize, complete, collect, and track simulation evaluation tools.
  • Assist with development, data collection, data analysis, and administration of all pre- and post-simulation scenarios.
  • Prepare training environments, operate simulation equipment and assets, and recover equipment and environments for scheduled training and upon request by USAFSAM staff.
  • Conduct orientation to the simulation equipment and environment and provide an overview of the human patient simulator.
  • Assist in the management and support of daily operations of the simulation training program.
  • Assist in the development of simulation program validation metrics.
  • Work cooperatively with applicable program analysis, course curriculum advisors, course program directors, IM/IT, medical logistics, and site simulation center leadership to identify operational needs.
  • Develop recommendations to address simulation and/or course shortfalls based on identified operational needs.
  • Assist the program course director during the patient simulation scenario review process.
  • Develop and provide training, safety, and maintenance materials appropriate to the operation of all simulation equipment as directed by the Simulation Program Coordinator or as warranted by operational necessity.
  • Attend strategic planning meetings, teleconferences, meetings, and conferences for the purpose of improving the patient's simulated course experience and delivery of course content.
  • Assist and provide guidance to simulation center set-up and provide consultative assistance to program course management regarding future site expansion and high-fidelity human patient simulator recommendations.
  • Ensure simulation education, program key elements, and learning objectives are considered, and ensure simulation training outcome measurements meet course and skill sustainment requirements.
  • Report needs regarding simulation supplies and equipment in support of course training scenarios targeted to meet identified learning objectives.
  • Operate simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized high-fidelity simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers individually or in combination.
  • Follow legitimate medical aspects of scenarios and make appropriate adjustments based on participant actions or inactions as needed.
  • Create troubleshooting documents, simulation checklists, and simulation lesson plans/scenarios for simulation equipment; forward these products to the program course director for review.
  • Support USAFSAM simulation research projects within the capacity of the contractor PWS.
  • Provide contractor leave requests/projections to the ET Academic and Readiness Operations Division Chief at least 10 workdays in advance by email to meet local policy; avoid absence during scheduled course dates.
  • Assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting items for the purpose of training additional cadre members.
  • Participate in operational exercises that provide professional development through travel opportunities and firsthand exposure to CCAT mission operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the contract, task order, and applicable performance work statement.

Qualifications
  • Possess and maintain National Registered Paramedic certification OR
  • Possess and maintain Advanced EMT(AEMT) certification
  • Posssess and maintain Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
  • Poseess and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Possess and maintain Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification.
  • Minimum five (5) years clinical experience in a military or civilian setting.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience programming human patient simulators using primarily Laerdal, Gaumard, and CAE simulator operating systems.
  • Minimum one (1) year of military medical and/or military deployment experience Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in course development and education methodology.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with word processing software and SharePoint applications.
  • Mmedical knowledge for simulation operator functions in order to manipulate physiological data and interpret participant responses to simulated scenarios Preferred
  • Knowledge of military trauma clinical skills, procedures, and processes, including Air Force Medical Service Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards.
  • Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines, policies, and procedures through successful completion of USAFSAM and department orientation programs.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, audio/visual solutions, moulage creation and application, hyper-realistic simulators, and task trainers Preferred.
  • Ability to operate high-fidelity patient simulator systems, task trainers, computerized high-fidelity simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers individually or in combination.
  • Ability to manipulate physiological data and interpret participant responses during simulated medical scenarios.
  • Ability to collect, track, organize, and analyze simulation evaluation data and team-training performance measures.
  • Ability to develop simulation scenarios, troubleshooting documents, simulation checklists, lesson plans, and simulation equipment support materials.
  • Ability to identify operational needs and develop recommendations to address simulation or course shortfalls.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with USAFSAM personnel, course directors, curriculum advisors, IM/IT, medical logistics, program analysis staff, and simulation center leadership.
  • Ability to support training environment preparation, equipment recovery, simulation program sustainment, train-the-trainer activities, equipment troubleshooting, and operational exercise participation.
  • Ability to protect confidential, proprietary, sensitive, and operationally sensitive information in accordance with applicable contract, corporate, Air Force, Department of Defense, and OPSEC requirements.
  • Ability to lift and or move upto 50 pounds and move human patient simulation equipment to and from training areas
