Jewish Silicon Valley ("JSV") is a 501c3 domestic charitable non-profit arising from a merger between the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, LLC and the Addison-Penzak JCC. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic executive leader reporting directly to the CEO, playing an essential role as a thought partner in driving organizational growth and financial sustainability. Collaborating closely with senior leadership team, the CFO joins us at a transformative moment in our organization's trajectory as we:

• review efficacy of organisational financial tools, models, and strategic plans,
• prepare to expand our community foundation model through increased DAF and endowment investment opportunities for our donors; and
• develop new ways to meet our community’s evolving needs.

The ideal candidate possesses strong people and leadership skills, a record of successful financial management, demonstrated experience and proficiency with back-office operations, and the ability to build trusting relationships with staff, board members, volunteers and philanthropic supporters.

• Provide leadership in financial operations and systems supporting financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP," local, state, and federal non-profit fiscal/fiduciary guidelines.
• Direct the preparation and review of the annual forecasting and budgeting process for all JSV departments and initiatives.
• Coordinate the annual independent audit including consolidating financial statements and review audited financial statements for proper disclosures.
• Provide leadership, direction, and efficiencies for all investment accounting.
• Serve as the staff lead to the Investment and Finance Committees.
• Cogently present and defend financial position reports to the Board of Directors.

• Demonstrated leadership, communication and relationship building skills in a not-for-profit and/or for-profit environment
• Experience as a senior level finance or accounting professional in a not-for-profit and/or for-profit environment
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.

• Experience in financial planning and financial forecasting.
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, internal controls, cash management and GAAP.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and cash flow projections.
• Proficient written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to positively motivate teams to produce quality materials within timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
• Board level experience (volunteer or other) interacting with lay leadership. Ability to participate in and facilitate committee meetings.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and communicate cogent explanations of financial positions to the CEO and Board.
• Proven professional/fiduciary level of confidentiality and judgment.

• Self-aware, critical thinker with attention to short/mid/long-term goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and manage at all levels of the organization staff, volunteers & donors.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with sound judgment. Make timely decisions based on accurate and relevant analyses.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results‑orientation.

• *Work in the vicinity of children and older adults

While performing the duties of this job, the work environment can be noisy and you may be working in close proximity with others. This role routine uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers and printers.
