Job description

Aerometals is looking to add the following position:

Machinist Journeyman

Pay range: $35 - $45 hourly 

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 4:30pm & Friday 7:00am - 12:00pm

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine.
  • Check and change parts on fixture and vice.
  • Oversee the machines while they execute the tasks.
  • Perform Blueprint math: stacked tolerance, edge distance.
  • Follow procedures, work instructions, and select proper tools.
  • Utilize precision measuring devices.
  • Make tool offset changes to meet tolerance of part features.
  • Perform various CNC machining operations on CNC mill and lathe.
  • Utilize skills to support equipment such as, Bridgeport mill, manual lathe and grinders as required.
  • Implement general knowledge and understanding of CAD/CAM systems.
  • Use blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished products.
  • Update and follow setup sheet.
  • Set up Mill attachments such as 4th and 5th axis.
  • Complete mathematical calculations related to SFPM, RPM, Feed Rates, and chip load.
  • Program simple parts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of G&M code
  • Take direction from leads.
  • Setup machines for operators and work with and mentor both machinist and operators.
  • Support welding and sheet metal with tooling as needed.
  • Design tooling as needed for specific jobs.
  • Create fixtures.
  • Program parts to finish on 3 axis 4 axis setup and positional programing.
  • Edit programs by hand on machine control.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the organization.

Qualification Requirements:

Education: High school diploma

Skills:

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to follow instructions and be proficient in CAD/CAM programs
  • Safety conscious
  • Ability to make and program R&D and first article parts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Experience: 6+ years in machining processes and solid works experience is a plus

Training: On the job training.
