Job Summary
The MiFLoW Research Group in the Department of Radiology at the University of Michigan is seeking a temporary Research Associate for a summer appointment. The position supports ongoing NIH-funded work on quantitative, image-based biomarkers for the lower urinary tract using MRI and ultrasound, including shear wave elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound. The Research Associate will contribute to experiments, data analysis, algorithm development, and manuscript preparation under the supervision of the group's investigators.
Responsibilities*
- Perform in vitro, phantom, and in vivo MRI and ultrasound imaging experiments, including setup, acquisition, and documentation.
- Process and analyze MRI and ultrasound data using existing computational pipelines.
- Assist in the development and validation of image analysis and signal processing algorithms.
- Contribute to the preparation of figures, results, and draft text for manuscripts and conference abstracts.
- Maintain organized documentation of code, data, and analysis workflows.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python for scientific computing and data analysis.
- Familiarity with medical image analysis or signal processing concepts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desired Qualifications*
- Prior hands-on research experience with MRI and/or ultrasound imaging or related experimental work.
- Exposure to the physics of MRI and/or ultrasound imaging.
- Experience with version control (Git) and reproducible analysis workflows.
- Record of contribution to peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
