Job Description:

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Theย Sr.ย Weldingย Inspectorย must assure properย weldingย and radiographic procedures are qualified and utilized, radiographers are certified, welders are qualified, sound welds are produced, and proper documentation is maintained.
ย 
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
ย 
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Plan and organize inspection duties in advance.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure any design changes or material substitutions are discussed with the Chief Inspection and proper Company approval is obtained.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure the radiographer's certification is complete and correct, that acceptable radiographic procedures are established, the technician(s) has a copy of the Company specifications, current API-1104 edition, and the technician is familiar with Company procedures for film identification, form completion, documentation for the disposition of rejects, etc. It is not theย Sr.ย Weldingย Inspector's responsibility to interpret the radiographic film; however, theย Inspectorย should be knowledgeable in film interpretation.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Be familiar with the approved construction drawings and Company specifications.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Understanding the Contract document as it relates to his or her duties on the project
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Completing and submitting applicable inspection reports that accurately describe the work performed on the project
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure any design changes or material substitutions are discussed with the Chief Inspection and proper Company approval is obtained.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Verify all materials used in the installation are in compliance with Company requirements.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure aย weldingย procedure is established
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure the correct WPS being utilized is reviewed prior to the start ofย welding
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure that each welder is qualified for the work he is performing
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Observe the x-ray procedure (including developing and handling) being used to assure it is appropriate for the applications and this procedure is producing acceptable radiographs.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure the Radiographer's certifications are current and in accordance with SNC-TC-1A.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Continuously observe theย weldingย technique and radiographic procedure to assure proper procedures are being followed.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Coordinate the radiographic crew?s activities with those of the contractor.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Monitor the quality of the welds being made to assure sound welds are being made at all joints.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure the repairs made to correct defects in a pipe weld sufficiently corrected the defect and the weld satisfies the requirements as outlined by the appropriate codes and Company specifications.
ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assure proper documentation is maintained by the radiographic crew including the disposition of each reject.
