PLEASE NOTE: This position requires limited design responsibilities. If you are solely a graphic designer without sign production experience, please do not apply.
Horizon Sign Company is looking for an experienced Sign Maker to join our team. The Sign Maker is a professional, solution-oriented individual who pays attention to detail, works well in a fast-paced team environment, and can efficiently manage many projects at once. We are looking for a positive individual with a growth mindset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Production of various types of signs, including applying vinyl, laminating, cutting, painting, cleaning, etc.
  • Estimate cost and time for sign and graphics projects, and providing clients with formal quotes for proposed work
  • Consult with clients, including answering phones, emails, and online queries
  • Conduct site surveys for new leads to gather and document all required details for fabrication, permitting, and installation
  • Coordinate with graphic design team to generate mockups and proofs for clients
  • Perform quality assurance measures, pre- and post-production
  • Ability to assist with sign and graphics installations, as needed
  • Monitor inventory, to include tracking, ordering, and storage
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of production areas, storage spaces, and company vehicle
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs, as needed
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, support departments, suppliers, etc.
  • Accurately track electronic and paper records related to jobs
  • Learn new technologies, skills, and techniques for continuous self-improvement
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience as a professional sign maker
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Large format digital printing experience (HP Latex printing, roll-to-roll Laminator, Graphtec plotter)
  • Basic design experience preferred
  • Expertise in using Adobe Design tool suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Experience with RIP software (Onyx and Versaworks preferred)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to work well under pressure to output high volume, high-quality work
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 75 or more pounds
  • Must have the flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back forth hand motions to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate
  • Able to use light power equipment

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Laser cutting/engraving or router experience
  • Flatbed printer operating experience
  • Vehicle wrap installation
  • Certified installation professional (3M, Avery, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in color management

JOB TYPE:
  • Position: Full-time (8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday)
  • Pay: (commensurate with experience)
  • Benefits: Health insurance, paid vacation, paid personal days
  • Work Location: Office in Brentwood. Installations throughout the Greater St. Louis area.
  • Typical hours: 8am to 5pm

Compensation: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour
