HVAC/Refrigeration Technician -- Becker, MN Area

Off the Hook Heating

Becker, MN • On-site

$28 - $32/hr

Full-time

Medical, Retirement, PTO

Re-posted 2 days ago

Job description

When you have a question on a job, you want a straight answer from someone who's actually been in the field. Not a manager who hasn't held a gauge in ten years. At Perfect Temp Heating & Cooling, the owner is still in the truck, which means no corporate runaround, no telephone game, and no decisions made by people who don't understand the work.

We're hiring an HVAC/Refrigeration Tech to join us in the Becker, MN area (55308). Pay is $28-$32/hr depending on experience, with a signing bonus, quarterly bonuses, commission, and overtime on top. We're a growing shop, so we'll be straight with you up front: some days move fast and the schedule can shift. If you can roll with that and you're looking for a place where the boss actually has your back (because he's right there with you), this is worth a real look.

We work on residential, commercial, boilers, and ammonia refrigeration systems. That means real variety. You're not stuck on the same call type for 40 hours a week.

What You'll Get:

  • $28-$32/hr depending on experience
  • $1000 Signing bonus
  • Overtime pay
  • 5% Commission on sales
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Direct access to the owner (no middlemen, no telephone game)
  • Variety in the work (residential, commercial, refrigeration)

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Installing, servicing, and repairing HVAC/Refrigeration systems
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting calls as they come in
  • Preventive maintenance and tune-ups
  • Boiler work and ammonia refrigeration when those calls hit
  • Reading blueprints for new installs
  • Keeping decent records of what you did and what you used

Some days are install-heavy. Some days are service-heavy. Some days, the schedule changes by lunch. We'll be straight with you about that going in.

Who’s This Is For: You're a real tradesperson. You don't need to be told twice. You can show up to a call with limited info and figure it out. You're honest with customers and honest with us when something goes sideways.

Beyond that:

  • HVAC/Refrigeration training program, apprenticeship, or solid hands-on experience
  • Experience with boilers and refrigeration (especially ammonia) is a big plus
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Can read blueprints and follow code

NATE certification helps but isn't required. If you've got the skills and the right head on your shoulders, apply.

Who This Isn't For: Honestly? If you need a rigid schedule, a textbook process for every call, and three layers of management before you make a decision, you'll be miserable here. We're a working shop, not a corporate machine. Some people love that. Some people don't. We'd rather you know up front.

How to Apply: Apply below. The owner reads them. You'll hear back fast, and if it's a fit, the first conversation is with the person you'd actually be working alongside.

We're looking for someone who wants to build with us, not just clock in. If that's you, let's talk.
