Job description

The Art Director in the sign industry will oversee creative direction, brand development, and visual design for projects primarily focused on corporate branding, exterior signage, illuminated and non-illuminated signage, and interior signage. Leading a small team of 1-3 members, this role involves client coordination, quality assurance, and signage strategy to deliver impactful and cohesive visual communications. The Art Director will collaborate closely with clients and vendors, utilizing industry-standard design software and project management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead creative direction and brand development for signage projects
  • Manage and mentor a small design team
  • Coordinate directly with clients to ensure alignment and satisfaction
  • Develop visual designs and signage strategies tailored to project needs
  • Ensure quality assurance throughout the design and production process
  • Design signage for interior, exterior, illuminated, retail, and corporate environments
  • Oversee project management and workflow using professional software tools
  • Facilitate vendor communication and coordination as needed
  • Participate in occasional travel for project or client needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in art direction within the sign industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience with signage design and brand development
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with platforms like Asana, Sign Agent, and Canva
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of 3D rendering and vendor coordination
  • Effective time management skills
