Job description

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
A Nesting Programmer is responsible for nesting parts on sheet and plate material on the laser and plasma machinery in the fabrication department. They will be using files provided by the scheduling and engineering departments. This will include optimizing the material usage and minimizing wasted material by nesting like material components together.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Develop and manage daily nests
  • Manage vendor material order and transfers
  • Process and release work orders to Manufacturing
  • Manage material requirements, including vendor material orders and internal material transfers.
  • Process, prioritize, and release work orders to Manufacturing according to production schedules.
  • Coordinate with Scheduling, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to ensure nests and materials are available when needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify potential material shortages or excess material.
  • Make adjustments to nests based on production priorities, material availability, and engineering changes.
  • Maintain accurate nesting files, work orders, and production documentation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Proficient in nesting Software. (Optimation, Sigma Nest or comparable) +
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Inventor or AutoCAD experience a plus.
