Position Summary: The Quality Engineer I will ensure the overall quality of manufactured products, tests processes, create documentation, devise quality tests, and define the criteria a test result should meet. This individual will also monitor quality standards and track performance trends to identify areas of needed improvement.

FLSA: Exempt

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and review inspection data to ensure component integrity and investigate and resolve discrepancies found during part inspection.
  • Update control plans for correct gauges and order of operation.
  • Collect data for runoff and gauge study.
  • Generate and drive to completion CARs as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Able to review and disposition non-compliant material of minor issue complexity.
  • Assess issue culpability with assistance from senior staff as needed.
  • Identify features for inspection and correctly assign dimensional values and tolerances specified in print to a given feature.
  • Develop and document ISO-compliant standards under direction of Senior Engineers.
  • Expected to contribute to primary areas of inspection for which training has been provided.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 0-3 years of experience required.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading.
  • Understand the ISO process.
  • Basic understanding of the requirements of ATF compliance. Full understanding of the critical role ATF compliance plays in the continued health of the business.
  • Understand and work fluently with GD&T symbology assigned per ASME Y14.5.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision verbally and in written format regarding problems and corrective action.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
