What is a Shutterstock contributor?

A Shutterstock contributor is an individual or organization that submits photos, illustrations, vectors, or videos to Shutterstock’s online marketplace. Contributors earn royalties when customers download their content for use in various creative projects. Becoming a contributor involves creating an account, submitting sample works for review, and following Shutterstock’s submission guidelines to ensure high-quality, licensable content. Contributors retain copyright ownership of their work while granting Shutterstock the rights to license it to customers.

Is Shutterstock a good place to work?

Shutterstock offers roles in creative, technical, and support areas, often providing flexible schedules and remote work options. Employee reviews highlight a collaborative environment and opportunities for skill development, though experiences can vary by position and department.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Shutterstock Contributor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Shutterstock Contributor, you need strong photography, videography, or illustration skills along with a solid understanding of visual trends and requirements for stock content. Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, and an ability to navigate Shutterstock's platform and submission guidelines, are crucial. Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to accept feedback or adapt to market needs are standout soft skills. These abilities ensure your work meets technical standards, appeals to buyers, and maintains a steady stream of accepted and purchased content.

How to start earning money on Shutterstock?

To start earning money on Shutterstock, create an account as a contributor, then upload high-quality images, videos, or illustrations that meet their content guidelines. Once approved, your content becomes available for licensing, and you earn royalties each time it is downloaded or used. Consistently uploading relevant, well-tagged content can increase your earning potential.

Can you actually make money off Shutterstock?

Shutterstock contributors can earn money by licensing their photos, videos, or illustrations through the platform, with earnings based on the number of downloads and licensing type. Success depends on the quality and uniqueness of content, as well as consistent uploading. Many contributors generate varying income levels, but it typically requires ongoing effort and skill in content creation and marketing.

How much can I earn from Shutterstock?

Earnings for contributors on Shutterstock vary based on factors such as the number of downloads, subscription plans, and contributor level, with typical earnings ranging from a few cents to several dollars per download. Contributors can increase income by uploading high-quality images, diversifying their portfolio, and understanding licensing options. Payment is usually made monthly once earnings reach a minimum threshold, and success depends on the quality and demand for the content uploaded.

What are the typical daily responsibilities for a contributor working with Shutterstock?

As a Shutterstock contributor, your daily tasks often include uploading new images or videos, adding accurate metadata and keywords, and reviewing feedback or sales data to optimize future submissions. Many contributors also spend time researching current visual trends to ensure their content is marketable and relevant. Collaboration with other creators is possible through Shutterstock's forums or community groups, where contributors share insights and support. Managing your own portfolio and staying organized are key to maximizing earnings and maintaining a steady workflow.

Job description

Vendelux is transforming how companies discover, evaluate, and maximize the impact of events.
Event marketers are the driving force behind pipeline and brand - yet events remain one of the least optimized and most opaque marketing channels. Vendelux changes that. We provide the system of record for event marketing, giving teams the data and insights they need to make smarter, more strategic decisions.
Our AI-powered platform delivers proprietary insights across 250,000+ events, helping high-growth companies identify where their ideal customers will be, maximize ROI, and turn events into a scalable growth channel. Customers often describe Vendelux as an event marketer's dream. A key part of this is our growing network of event organizer partnerships - where organizers share first-party attendee and sponsorship data, and in return gain access to valuable market insights.
In addition, Vendelux Meetings helps customers turn event insights into action - using AI to identify high-value attendees and automatically book 1:1 meetings with the right prospects at conferences. This allows teams to maximize pipeline generation and make every event materially more impactful.
Founded in 2021, Vendelux is a Series A SaaS company backed by leading investors including FirstMark, with a recent $14M round. Our team brings experience from companies like Bain, ZoomInfo, Airbnb, FanDuel, Shutterstock, Compass and more.
Data-driven marketers have plenty of tools to optimize their digital ad spend and verify that their ads showed where they were supposed to. We build the same kinds of tools, but for data-driven event marketers, who've previously been limited to scanning conference badges at their booth.
We're growing, and looking for Staff Software Engineers to ship critical features and make key drive key infrastructure changes. As a Staff Engineer at Vendelux, you will help shape the technical strategy for our products and systems.

  • Ship high quality, secure, and well-tested software that scales as highly distributed systems, using incremental deliveries based on data driven prioritization and decisions
  • Solve interesting and challenging technical problems, coordinating technical roadmap deliveries across our product team and front end engineers
  • Collaborate with our operations and revenue teams, as well as our users to respond, react, and plan feature delivery based on user feedback and analytics
  • Identify opportunities to work across our stack, and areas of the business, to help meet the needs of a quickly scaling business and product
  • Work closely with our leadership team to define our product roadmap and technical strategy, and continuously improve our development process and engineering practices
  • Be a technical leader and valued contributor in an autonomous, cross-functional agile team
  • Mentor a growing team of engineers through pair programming and code reviews, on performant, scalable engineering principles, with a focus on iterative delivery

Tech Stack
  • Frontend: Typescript, React, MUI/Shadcn, Node.js
  • Backend: Python, Django, Typescript, Node.js, MySQL, Postgres, AWS, GCP
  • Data: Python, Dagster, Snowflake
  • Other tools: Linear, GitHub, Datadog, Cursor / Claude Code

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience building complex applications using a modern language, like Python and/or Typescript
  • Track record of shaping and shipping valuable features
  • Track record of driving high-leverage improvements to infrastructure and process
  • Judgment to take on technical debt and risk where appropriate
  • Comfort with modern AI tools to accelerate development
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • The humor and humility to maintain perspective during fast-paced work
  • Nice-to-have: Previous startup experience
  • Nice-to-have: DevOps or platform/infrastructure experience (or deep interest)
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with AI prototyping tools like v0, Lovable, Replit, etc.

Not all candidates will check all of the requirements listed above and that's ok! We are open to great people from non-traditional backgrounds.
Vendelux is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity, parental or pregnancy status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
