The Shutter Installer Helper at Storm Smart assists in the installation of hurricane and storm protection systems, including shutters, panels, and other products. This role supports the lead installer by preparing materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring efficient and safe installation processes. The Shutter Installer Helper is responsible for adhering to safety guidelines, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining high-quality standards in all work performed. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:  

  • Assist the lead installer with the installation of shutters, storm panels, and related products. 

  • Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment at job sites. 

  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials for installation as directed. 

  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively. 

  • Ensure job sites are clean and free of debris before and after installations. 

  • Follow company protocols and safety standards to ensure a secure work environment. 

  • Communicate with customers professionally, addressing questions and concerns as needed. 

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on tools and equipment to ensure functionality. 

  • Complete tasks efficiently within the assigned timeframes.

Required Skills/ Abilities:  

  • Mechanically minded, with the ability to stand back and assess the situation before commencing work. 

  • Strong fault-finding skills and rectification of mechanical issues and fundamental electrical problems, minimizing the need to go back on jobs. 

  • Excellent Customer Service skills as you will be engaging with our client and other vendors when necessary. 

  • Ability to work in a hot, humid environment. 

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Able to analyze and solve problems as they arise. 

  • A self-starter and ability to work unsupervised as well as within a team. 

  • Abide by the conditions of employment to ensure the integrity of the company’s operation. 

  • Abide by all government and company regulations and standards of performance. 

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 

  • 1-2 years experience in construction, general labor, home services, or installation support is preferred but not required. 

  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn hands-on technical skills. 

  • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools (or willingness to be trained). 

  • Basic understanding of jobsite safety practices; OSHA 10 is a plus or willingness to obtain. 

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, meeting company insurance requirements
