What is shopper marketing?

Shopper marketing is a strategy that focuses on understanding and influencing the behavior of shoppers throughout their purchasing journey, both in-store and online. It involves creating targeted marketing initiatives and campaigns that appeal directly to consumers at the point of sale or decision-making. The goal is to drive engagement, increase sales, and build brand loyalty by delivering relevant messaging, promotions, and experiences tailored to shoppers’ needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a shopper marketing professional?

To thrive as a Shopper Marketing professional, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of consumer behavior, and a background in marketing or business. Familiarity with data analytics tools, category management software, and retail point-of-sale systems is typically required. Excellent collaboration, creativity, and communication skills help drive impactful campaigns and foster strong retailer relationships. These skills are vital for developing targeted strategies that influence purchase decisions and maximize brand performance at the point of sale.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in shopper marketing roles, and how can they be addressed?

Navigating diverse retailer requirements, tight campaign timelines, and shifting consumer behaviors can be demanding. Success in this role requires strong collaboration with sales, category management, and external retail partners, as well as agility in adapting strategies based on real-time insights. Building strong relationships and maintaining open communication channels within cross-functional teams can help address these challenges and deliver effective shopper-focused campaigns.

  • Analyze market, customer, competitor and sell-out data to identify opportunities across pharmacy and retail environments.
  • Monitor promotion effectiveness, in-store execution and shopper activation results, using insights to recommend improvements.
  • Manage trade marketing budgets by channel and customer, ensuring smart allocation, clear tracking and ROI-focused decision-making.
  • Contribute to the rollout of scalable best practices across Poland, helping us build consistent and effective execution across markets.
  • 3+ years of experience in trade marketing, shopper marketing, customer marketing, key account management, sales or digital marketing within FMCG, Beauty, OTC, Pharma, Healthcare, Cosmetics or Retail.
  • Strong interest in shopper activation, customer marketing and hands-on commercial execution across both pharmacy and retail channels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to work with market, customer, competitor, sell-out or campaign performance data.
  • Digital or e-commerce experience, especially in e-pharmacy, retail media or online trade activation, is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills and confidence working with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Field Force teams, agencies and external partners.
  • Fluent Polish, with the ability to create sharp, locally relevant customer-facing materials and claims.
  • Strong English skills for collaboration in an international environment.
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings and market visits across Poland; driving license required.
  • Opportunity to create, grow, and encourage
  • Apart from a competitive salary pack, there are lots of growth opportunities to meet your personal ambitions
  • Flexible schedule and life work balance
  • Responsibility for exciting and challenging projects that have a direct, visible impact on our customers and the industry
  • Very positive work environment in a young, international, and motivated team
