Role & Responsibilities
The Senior Technical Project Manager role is critical to the success of our agency. They're the driving force behind implementing intricate eCommerce strategies, showcasing a deep understanding of technical aspects such as third-party integrations and migrations. With complete ownership over projects, they collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to ensure successful launches of Shopify Plus websites for various brands. This role demands not only strong project management skills but also a solid grasp of Shopify's capabilities. They excel in navigating complexities and delivering tailored solutions that meet clients' goals effectively.
  • Client Onboarding
    • Review all sales notes and documents to understand specific client needs.
    • Determine the onboarding plan in collaboration with the client.
    • Set up all necessary tools and ensure team access.
    • Coordinate all workshops, check-ins, and presentations.
    • Create Avex-branded decks and ensure use of branded templates by the team.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
    • Understand client needs, objectives, and challenges.
    • Develop and maintain a weekly and monthly meeting schedule based on client needs for support, oversight, and opportunity.
  • Production Plan Scoping & Management
    • Collaborate with the team to create detailed project plans, including deliverables, responsibilities, dependencies, timelines, and costs.
    • Ensure alignment of plans with project objectives and client expectations.
    • Fully manage and control implementation of project plans.
    • Inform teams promptly of any deviations from the plan.
    • Implement change control processes to manage scope changes and reduce scope creep.
  • Product Knowledge
    • Possess strong understanding of Ecommerce, Retention, CRO, and UX best practices.
    • Use product knowledge to answer client questions concisely.
    • Identify risks and dependencies during project scoping and budget/timeline management.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Have in-depth knowledge of Shopify Plus capabilities.
    • Confidently address client technical questions and identify risks/dependencies.
    • Specialize in platform migrations to Shopify from Magento, Salesforce, and custom platforms.
    • Understand data modeling, mapping, and migration practices.
    • Communicate effectively with technical team members and vendors.
    • Delegate tasks appropriately and understand proper resource assignment.
  • Task Management
    • Define and communicate Task Acceptance Criteria clearly to internal and client teams.
    • Create timelines with milestones and estimates to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
    • Support the production team with access and information needed for efficient execution.
    • Conduct thorough QA with the Quality Assurance team to meet acceptance criteria.
    • Act as the final product approver, ensuring quality standards are met before client delivery.
    • Manage and communicate client feedback clearly and apply it appropriately.
  • Budget Management
    • Oversee client budget and track workload and time of strategists, designers, solutions, and developers weekly.
    • Support team in time management and task prioritization.
    • Ensure team awareness of budget and accurate time tracking.
    • Validate that estimates are fair and accurate, discussing conflicts with the client.
    • Protect clients from being billed for internal issues that required additional budget due to Avex errors.
  • Education
    • Stay updated on ecommerce and departmental trends and tactics.
    • Implement and share best practices within the team.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager, Solutions Architect/Engineer, or Technical Lead with a focus on eCommerce platforms, preferably in a retail or consumer-facing industry.
    • Experience with Shopify required
    • Experience with Magento, Salesforce and/or custom platform migrations preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration with a focus on eCommerce or digital marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
