Job Description

We are looking for a Panel Shop Manager to lead our panel shop operations and play a pivotal role in the successful execution of our projects. In this role, you'll take ownership of the full panel lifecycle — from design through fabrication, quality assurance, and delivery, while managing a team, a budget, and the overall performance of the department.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on precision, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and enjoys building a strong, motivated team around them.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and guide the panel shop team in day-to-day activities, ensuring seamless coordination between design, fabrication, testing, and delivery — rolling up your sleeves to actively participate when needed.
  • Oversee the panel design process, working closely with the design team to translate technical requirements into efficient, effective panel layouts.
  • Manage the fabrication process, ensuring every panel is built to the highest standards of quality and technical compliance.
  • Implement rigorous quality assurance protocols so every panel leaving the shop meets or exceeds industry standards.
  • Manage panel shop operations in alignment with allocated budgets, and own the department's P&L.
  • Mentor and guide panel shop resources across all aspects of their work; run regular project/task meetings and help your team clear obstacles.
  • Foster a positive, fulfilling work environment where people want to grow and stay.
  • Stay flexible with travel, up to approximately 25%.
Qualifications

Experience

  • Managerial or supervisory experience within panel fabrication, electrical panel building, or a related manufacturing field.
  • Track record overseeing teams through the full build cycle — from design intake to final delivery — including budget and P&L accountability.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and technical specifications; familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., UL508A, CSA, NEC) is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of panel design and fabrication processes, quality assurance practices, resource management, and budget oversight.
  • Comfortable working with shop equipment and safety systems, with a strong safety-first mindset.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • A natural problem-solver with sharp attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality.
  • Effective organizational and multitasking capabilities, with sound judgment under pressure.
  • A coaching mindset, genuinely invested in developing your team.
