Job description

JOB SUMMARY: 

Under broad supervision, provide advancedlevel technical support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

Under direct supervision, with specific instruction performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance or construction of an assigned facility and related structures. Preventive maintenance of physical structures, major/minor signs or electrical devices, installs and maintains security, climate control and other facilities systems. This position performs welding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience performing grounds maintenance and building maintenance including servicing HVAC, cleaning coils, changing air filters, plumbing repairs and changing electrical ballasts.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform vehicle preventive maintenance including oil changes and scheduling Preventive Maintenance Services on motor pool vehicles.

  • Knowledge and experience using the P-Card for purchases related to facility maintenance and/or repairs.

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools, materials and equipment.

  • Ability to independently identify building repair and maintenance requirements.

  • Ability to perform moderately difficult repair and maintenance tasks without supervision and to notify Administrative Operations Manager to correct more complex problems.

  • Committed to providing quality customer service.

  • Demonstrated skills in reading, writing, and basic mathematics.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, or walk for long periods of time; exert oneself physically over time.

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

  • Possesses accurate eye-hand coordination.

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License.

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.

  • Ability to complete required forms and reports to include data entry.

  • Ability to assist during emergencies including after hours and weekends.

  • Ability to crawl on hands and knees and use hand tools in tight spaces.

1 year of welding experience
